What are the benefits of LAPERS membership?
We’re a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that brings together individuals employed by state, statewide, and local public employees’ pension plans to exchange information, ideas, and experiences with others facing the same challenges. By uniting Louisiana’s public retirement systems, we work for their common interests, monitor state and federal legislative activities, and enhance public pension fund management and administration by providing educational and informational services to our members.
Annual Seminar
Who should attend the LAPERS Seminar?
The LAPERS Seminar is designed to provide educational hours to trustees of public retirement boards and systems. Staff of those board and systems, as well as sponsors, are also allowed to attend. Please note the Pre-Conference workshop is for trustees and system staff only.

Where is the LAPERS Seminar being held this year?
The New Orleans Marriott, 555 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70130.
Do we have to be a member or sponsor to attend?
You must be registered as a member, non-member, non-sponsor corporate attendee or sponsor to attend.
Is there a room block at the hotel?
Yes, there will be a room block at The Marriott. The block rate is $187/night. The room block is reserved from September 7-10, 2024, and closes on August 19. You can access the hotel block booking here.
How do I become a corporate sponsor for the seminar?

Is there an option to attend the Seminar virtually?
No. However, as a registered member you may pay to view certain recorded sessions after the seminar.
Will there be an ethics presentation this year?
LAPERS will be providing an in-person ethics training at the 2023 seminar. You may also take the online ethics course via the Ethics Administration website to receive your ethics education credit.
How do I access the conference content when it’s over?
Videos and PDFs of certain sessions will be added to the LAPERS website a few weeks after the seminar. Content is password protected and is only available to those systems who purchase access to the materials.
Whom do I contact to update our contact list on your brochure?

Can I bring a guest?
Yes, you may bring a guest. They must be registered to attend conference socials.
Are there any fees associated with bringing a guest?
Guest fees are $25, provided registration is received by the deadline. The guest fee is for the social events ONLY and does not include conference meals.
How do I access past seminar material?
Past seminar content is accessible from the top menu of the website by hovering your cursor over the ANNUAL SEMINAR menu item. Past seminar content is password protected.

How do I register to attend the seminar?
You can register online here.
What is the cost associated with attending the event?
For members, the pre-conference workshop and conference are $175. If registered by the deadline, the conference only is $150. For non-members, the conference registration is $250. The pre-conference workshop is only open to member systems. Member and non-member registrations received after the registration deadline will incur a $50 late fee. The registration fee for non-sponsor corporate attendees is $1,000 with a late fee of $400 if registered after the deadline.
What is the deadline for registration?
The deadline for registration without incurring a late fee is August 23, 2024.
How do I pay my registration fee?
You may pay your registration fee by sending a check made payable to Louisiana Public Retirement Seminar to P.O. Box 2321, Gonzales, LA 70707-2321. You may also pay over the phone by contacting Kelley Bourque at (225) 644-7364 or emailing her at kelleybourque@hotmail.com to notify her you would like to make a payment with a credit card.
Will I get confirmation of my registration and/or sponsorship?
Once registered, you will receive registration confirmation to the email address provided at the time of registration.
How do I know whether I am a member, a non-member, or a corporate attendee?
Please contact Kelley Bourque with questions as to the type of attendee for which you qualify.
What are the sponsorship costs and levels?

Are investment managers members of the organization or only sponsors of the annual conference?
Investment firms may join us as sponsors or register as corporate attendees. To inquire about joining the sponsorship waiting list, please contact Dainna Tully at dtully@persla.org.

What is the hotel room rate?
The hotel room rate is $187.

The parking rate is $18/day or $36 for overnight parking.

Training & Education
Am I required to complete the training listed on your website?
No, the training on the LAPERS website is available as an additional resource to you.
How do I receive educational credit?
To receive credit for each session watched, please contact your retirement system directly.
Which type of Trustee Education does my seminar presentation qualify as?
The seminar includes trustee education hours in the following: Laws, Rules and Regulations; Fiduciary Duty; Governmental Ethics; Actuarial Science and Investments.
